I was going to title this post ‘Entrecard - better than BlogRush?’ but Zybron beat me to it!
Have you noticed the new widget in my sidebar? It’s an Entrecard and I’m experimenting with this new way to promote my blog.
At first sight it seems like a good idea. What particularly appeals to me is the ability to decide which Entrecards appear in your widget. You check out the advertiser’s blog before you approve them.
Here’s how it works.
1. Dropping Your Card on Other Blogs
When you drop your card for someone, by clicking ‘Drop yours’ on the bottom of someone’s widget, your card will be displayed in their inbox when they log into the Entrecard. The Entrecard member can click through to visit your site via your card in their inbox.
2. Advertising on another Blog
To make your card appear on someone’s widget, so that everyone who visits their blog sees your Entrecard (which links to your site), you must advertise on their widget, and pay them Entrecard Credits. To do this, click the Campaign tab, find the blog you want to advertise on, and click ‘Advertise’ under the card of the blog you want your card to run on. Once the owner of the site approves your card, it will run for a full 24 hours for each advertisement slot you buy.
3. What are credits?
Credits are the currency of the Entrecard network. You spend them to advertise your Entrecard on other people’s widgets. How are credits earned?
- You earn 1 credit every time you drop your card for someone else.
- You earn 1 credit every time someone else drops their card for you.
- You earn credits every time someone advertises on your widget.

I’ve noticed on my feedjit that most of my visits today came from Entrecard. Much better than any other stuff I’ve added!

it works! drop and drop to accumulate points, to advertise yourself on blogging superstars’ blogs.
It takes a bit of work, but it’s definately useful. It’s not so much the traffic from the ads but the side benefits from working together. Over the last 7 days I’ve had only 21 visitors from ads I placed and 14 of those were from 2 ads. But because we work together by SU and BZ, I’ve had over 400 unique visitors from the other sources. I think I’ll post this in the forums to inspire others.
It seems like a no-brainer doesn’t it? Nothing has managed to kickstart my blog like entrecard. All at once I started getting visitors because everyone else is as hungry for publicity. Good stuff.
Hmm Is it just me or has everyone’s Entrecards disappeared. I can’t see them on my blog or anyone else’s! (I’m at work now - they were ok when I left home)
Does this apply to non blog sites…seems like a really cool idea, but I can see how it might get abused since every site is worth a credit someone might make a bunch of spam blogs for credits. Gonna read more into it, thx for the heads up.
So far, so good with the entrecard widget for me. Pretty neat, just don’t know how long it will last. Most places are already backed up pretty far with their advertising.
