Most of my designs are based on the excellent WordPress theme K2. K2 is (of course) in continual development which poses a problem for my styles. A style is a set of instructions (usually a css style sheet and images) that is simply dropped into the K2 style folder to change the look of the theme. While this makes changing the look very easy it does pose a problem when K2 is updated. The style may or may not work correctly without modifications. For instance K2 was recently updated to include support for 1 and 3 columns in addition to the original 2 columns. This is a very welcome addition but does mean that my original styles won’t work for the updated version of K2. So there are two solutions to this.
We have a large number of free WordPress themes and styles.

Searching for images you can edit or use commercially on your blog or web pages? There are some great images on Flickr but how do you make sure you’re only using images that can legally be changed and used? Please always include the proper attributes for your images. The methods listed here make this easy to do.
1. Use flickrCC
Search the huge Flickr site using flickrCC to find images you can edit or use commercially. You can crop, resize or add a frame to the resulting image directly in your browser. An attribution line can also be added to the image in colors of your choice.

Theme Test Drive allows you to choose a different theme just for the administrator. Regular readers will still see the default theme. This allows you to safely make changes to your theme before you make them public. Great if you’re developing a new theme or just tweaking your css. Just make a copy of your theme, upload to your WordPress install and tweak away until you’re completely happy!
It happens completely transparently and they will not even know that you run totally different theme for yourself. Best part is you can even set the testing theme options (if it has them) in the Admin panel while test driving.
