BANS Progress Report 3

I’ve been an affiliate of eBay for about 10 months now. as you will know if you have read my previous reports I started by using BANS but I have now moved to using WordPress with WordBay plugin. I find this to be much easier to use and better for adding content than BANS. All the plugins available for WordPress make it much more flexible. However for someone who is not experience in using WordPress it is probably easier to start with BANS as it is easy to setup.

To date I have made almost $4000. This is net, I have not added up the expenses but these include domain purchase (about $300) hosting (about $150) paid for directory submissions (about $300) and some advertising on USFreeads (about $50). I have not any used any ppc. Roughly about $1000 in expenses.

My earnings have increased every month from $200 in January to $750 this month. I continue to work on the sites, adding content and backlinks, adding to Kaboodle (free), USfreeads and social bookmarking.

One of the things I have found effective is buying aged domains. You can find then at tdnam. Closeouts are just $5. Look for domains that have been registered for over a year (preferably longer) and check that they show up in Google by doing a site:domain.com search. you don’t want to buy deindexed domains! You can also check with Wayback machine that they haven’t been used for shady purposes.

It has been a lot of work! Don’t believe all those ‘make $10000’s in no time’ ads. There is no way to instantly, with no work, make a lot of money in internet marketing. The only people who make money that way are the ones selling the ‘instant make money programs/guides’

One thing I would add. Google seems to be targeting ‘thin affiliate sites’. That is sites with affiliate ads and very little content. So add lots of unique content and try to make as many content pages as ads pages.

An add on here. If you are looking for aged domain, remember to check the history of the domain as well because some domains were banned by search engines for their SPAM activities. You can do it with way back machine and check whether the previous site looks like spam or not.

Agreed. Making a living through internet marketing takes some time, at least to grow your reputation in the niche as well as getting fixed income on a monthly basis.

It’s really gratifying to hear that people are making some money using WordBay! Actually, I am well aware that it’s a lot more to do with your marketing abilities than the plugin, which just does what it’s supposed to. Also, you are one of the people who have generously left me some impressions using the “generosity option” - I got a few sales that way, so thanks! It really makes a difference - I probably wouldn’t have the will to continue to developing it otherwise.

I like the look of your niche sites, you seem to have picked some neat niches and have got the knack of making simple, effective sites, so good work! Wish I had the patience myself…
