Banned from eBay Partner Network

On Dec 14th I received an email part of which is below:

“During a recent review, we found that your account is related to a previously banned account. Your account has been terminated and 100% of your pending commissions will be reversed.”

I have never has another account with EBPN and certainly have not been banned for any reason. I had over $2000 in that account that I earned honestly and with a lot of hard work. My earnings had really started to increase and I had high quality traffic for every period.

For those who don’t know eBay gives you a quality score based on ‘who knows what parameters’ and has dumped affiliates in the past for sending too low quality traffic.

I am not the only one who has received this email and all say that they do not have any other accounts. Today looking at eBay’s forum I see another round of bannings for the same spurious reason. I find it very suspicious that people are being dumped just before pay day. See the thread “your account is related to a previously banned account”

In the email it said “If you believe you have been linked to a banned account in error, please reply to eBayPartnerNetwork-Quality@ebay.com with your account information and a detailed description of how you are driving traffic to the eBay site. ”
Despite 4 emails to this address giving them the details they asked for I have had NO reply. Not even a form letter to say they have received them. This is how they treat honest, hard working affiliates that have been sending them, traffic for over a year?
I can no longer recommend either using BANS or being an affiliate of eBay as there is just too much likelihood of perfectly honest, hardworking affiliates being dumped and losing hard earned money through no fault of theirs.

That sucks so bad. I’ve made a little bit of money using EPN, but I’ve never heard of anyone being banned.

  2. 2 best diet pills

EPN is destroying lives left and right. I wonder how many people will lose their homes due to the problem of customers not being “engaged”

  3. 3 John Smithe

Sadly this happens all too often with ebay, and epn do nothing to help matters. someone should look into this problem fast, or ebay will lose many of its loyal customers.

  4. 4 tom

ive never heard of anyone being band either.

    strange?

  5. 5 janetra

Palms & tom - If you haven’t heard of people being banned then you aren’t looking properly! many ,many innocent people who have worked hard to set up a business as eBay affiliates have been banned for a variety of spurious reasons. just check the forum at Ebay forum

  6. 6 Money

I used to recommend ebay partner network to a lot of my users to make money from. When they started banning right before payout time that was it. I no longer recommend them and its BS that they take your money. If they would at least make the last payout it wouldn’t be so bad. Ebay has really gone down hill lately.

  7. 7 The Internet Marketing Maven

I had never applied to EPN before, but I did apply for a good quality niche site last week.

I just received an email from them that said, “Thank you for applying to the eBay Partner Network. Unfortunately, we cannot accept your application at this time. If you have questions regarding this process, please contact eBay Partner Network customer support.”

What does that even mean? No reason, no explanation. And no way to contact “Customer Support,” either from the email or their website.

If that’s the caliber of their business model, I don’t want to ever do business with them.

Ebay took my 360$, i was victim of a Scam!! :((( i hate you ebay!!

  9. 9 janetra

The Internet Marketing Maven - seems a lot of people are now being rejected even with good quality sites. As they don’t tell anyone their criteria for acceptance there’s not a lot you can do unfortunately.

This is a very bad news for us that your EPBN account has been banned without any proper reason & Your earning goes to waste. I haven’t have any type of information about EPBN, but after reading your article I am shock & surprise.

  11. 11 Golf Club

We never hear about this type of news i mean that banned EPBN account easily.

  12. 12 gift for boyfriend

This is a good idea but you should add to the “reasons for ban” dropdown. Add Cookie Stuffing Violation and Blank Referrers.

  13. 13 ladies bikes

This was not like the past round where “non-bonafide” transactions where to blame. EPN is telling people that “traffic generated from your account is significantly less engaged with the eBay site as compared to the standards set by our other affiliates”.

  14. 14 injury solicitor

many affiliates who rely on Ebay for their income have received these notices. Some of these affiliates were bringing down $10k to $30k per month!

  15. 15 accident claim

This was not like the past round where “non-bonafide” transactions where to blame. Then why EPN is telling

  16. 16 Bathroom Furniture

it is common now days from e-bay to do this. Very bad.

Well the Subvert and Profit website seems to be working pretty well. I’ve been able to add my Yahoo Videos account, YouTube Account, Stumble account, and Mixx account, along with my Digg account. They do not pay much but it is easy enough money. The only problem is that I don’t think there are enough

  18. 18 Rebar New York

I’ve been able to add my Yahoo Videos account, YouTube Account, Stumble account, and Mixx account, along with my Digg account

I used to prefer ebay partners. And Also recommended them.

    So now what next guys?

  20. 20 Florida Flowers

i have followed ebay partners many times and i have also recommended others to do this. but now i will have to think before even using it myself…

  21. 21 Singapore Property

Hey! I have seen many remarks on ebay as well!Shouldn’t they step out to do something to it!That’s unfair to those that really earn money honestly!

  22. 22 sleigh bed

Within the “Community” pages of Ebay, there are discussion boards for Ebay sellers. Go there and ask your questions. The people who use the forum and very friendly and helpful. I’d advise you to have a more specific question than the one you’ve used here. If it’s too much work for people to answer, they won’t.

  23. 23 markowe

I only just read this posting of yours - what a bummer! It does seem very unreasonable. I invest a lot of time and effort into promoting EPN and developing my WordBay plugin - it is hard to do so, though, with the threat of seemingly random removal from the program. I know you put a lot of work in too (and were a generous sharer of revenue using WordBay - thanks, there were a few pennies came to me that way) - it must have been a very nasty surprise and I guess all the rest of us can do is hope that the same does not befall us…

  24. 24 janetra

    Hi markowe
It was a nasty shock and the worse thing is their lack of communication. 3 months now and no reply to my emails. You’ll still get a few pennies as there are some sites that just won’t convert to affiliate products!
I’m doing OK with adsense and am working in other directions so all is not lost.

  25. 25 markowe

Hmm, I guess that’s a warning to make sure not all my eggs are in one basket… Though I don’t expect to get banned from EPN, nor do many it seems…

Speaking of which, it’s kind of you to keep that percentage in those remaining sites, but I wonder if I run the risk of getting banned myself if I am getting clicks from a “banned account” or whatever they call it. Seems stupid, but I always did think the revenue sharing option was maybe a little risky as I have no control over where those clicks are coming from.

  26. 26 janetra

    markowe
That did occur to me too - I wouldn’t want you to be banned for ‘being linked to a banned account’ I’ll put the % down to 0 if you think I should although if they really wanted to do it you have been ‘linked’ to my account for quite some time now.

  27. 27 nutisystem

i have also used ebay and enjoyed a lot. i have also suggested others to use ebay for online purchase and sales.

  28. 28 Villas in Seminyak

Yes, Ebay terminated my account too, why why why why why ??????

  29. 29 markowe

Sigh, you know Janet, maybe it’s better if my account is not associated with that of a known criminal such as yourself (joke!) - I mean, there are a few other people sharing revenue at any given time and I don’t have any control over that, but maybe it’s safer.

But I am very grateful nonetheless and I guess I’ll keep developing WordBay tentatively as long as I enjoy the good graces of EPN…

  30. 30 janetra

    markowe
I’ll put the % down to 0 on the few remaining sites. You won’t lose much anyway as I’m doing my best to lead people away from the auctions and towards my adverts! Keep up the good work on WordBay!

    Villas in Seminyak
It was nice while it lasted. There’s always other options so my motto is - forget it and move on

    Na eBay sucks. Forget them.

me too, i regiester 10 times, all refused with Thank you for applying to the eBay Partner Network. Unfortunately, we cannot accept your application at this time. If you have questions regarding this process, please contact eBay Partner Network customer support.
but how to contact eBay Partner Network customer support
    any email?

  34. 34 Kampanye Damai Pemilu Indonesia 2009

That’s really a sad story Jane so how’s the result have ebay paid your commission?

  35. 35 Shaun Taylor

I also got the ban notice — and I’m as whitehat and careful as they come. If I can get banned, anyone can! Same experience — they claim I had a previously banned account, which is just untrue. I have eBay monetization on about 40 or so niche sites, and I’m dreading finding replacement options. No response from the eBay team to my requests.

This seems predatory to me — I think I’m starting to get a whiff of a class action lawsuit.

  36. 36 janetra

    Hi Shaun
Just looked at the eBay forum and there’s another load who got the banned email around the 17th of the month. It is VERY suspicious that they do this just before pay day so they can keep all the last months earnings plus the current month - ie the maximum that they can keep! Someone also suggested they were getting rid of people who used BANS. Not sure if this is true. Were you using BANS? In addition no one gets any reply to their emails despite Steve saying they will work with people to clear up the problem. They obviously have some motive that we don’t know about - either to keep some of our hard earned money, if they ban 100 people a month that can add up to quite a lot, or something else such as not liking BANS.
I’ve put google adsense on all my sites and this is doing OK. Not as good as eBay though. I also use popshops for affiliate sales. Again not as good as eBay but I don’t have any choice now. It’s a pain swapping everything and very frustrating when you have put so much work into eBay!

  37. 37 Richard

Yep same thing happened to me took all my money not sure what I did ?
Wrote them a nice letter they will not even communicate with me I feel like I killed some one or I am Berny Madoff
Very harsh They must be hurting for Money
I was counting on the commissions too already spent it.
All my friends and Family will not buy or sell there anymore
It will take me weeks to stop all the free advertising they are getting from me!
I am very upset with all this!

  38. 38 janetra

    Hi Richard
You too? I just got a reply after 6 months! They are going to send me the money I earned but have now decided I was sending low quality traffic despite having high quality scores for every period from August to December (when they banned me) No apology for accusing me of having an account linked to a banned account but presumably they have decided that wasn’t true as they are paying me.

    Greetings -

We have been banned and have a considerable amount of money owed to us. We retained an attorney, but she indicated that we should find someone in California to take the case. I am looking for anyone that can direct me to an attorney in California who can help.

    Thanks

  40. 40 B. David Mehmet

eBay and ePN are being sued for unfair and deceptive business practices. eBay and ePN have been arbitrarily and maliciously breaching contracts with affiliates who suffer damages.

The lawsuit could turn into a class action. If your interested in joining read more here: http://www.badisse.com/?p=28

  41. 41 B. David Mehmet

You don’t need an attorney in California when you sue them under a Class Action. You can sue them in a federal jurisdiction within the U.S. Please contact me and I will put you in contact with an attorney suing eBay and ePN under a class action.

  42. 42 Ryan

I too was rejected by ebay. Has anyone used the Amazon affiliate program? Is it any good?
