There are plenty of scams out there and if you are about to pay out a heap of money for anything on the net most of us will do some research. A good way is usually to do a search for ‘xxxxx scam’. You can usually come up with enough information to alert you straight away if the product you are about to purchase is a scam or not.
So, what happens if you do this for ‘Site Build It! a Scam’? You’ll get 46,800,000 results. Seems like a lot right? Until the last few days the results were not dominated by people giving a genuine review of the Site Build It! software but by affiliates pushing the program for their $75 cut of the profit. Purporting to be genuine reviews but all of them being sales pitches for the program. So what happened a few days ago to change this? A blogger called Lis published a post Site Build It Scam and all hell broke loose! To date there are 133 comments on that post most of them praising Site Build It and calling down all kinds of dire punishments on Lis including suing her and contacting her hosting provider.
Now I have never used Site Build It and woudn’t. In my opinion $300 per website is ridiculous when all the information and programs you need for setting up websites and making money on line are available for free. The program appears to do what it says although looking at some of the sites built with it they look very old fashioned, but that’s just my opinion. It is aimed at people with little knowledge of web site building who want an easy way to get started so it could well do just that. What is a problem is that Lis in no way deserved the nasty and threatening response to her post and is entitled to express her opinion in any way she wants without that kind of response.
There seems to be something quite out of proportion for so many people to react in such a way. Could it be that they are making more money pushing the product as affiliates than actually making money on line with their Site Build It! websites?
Now if you search for ‘Site Build it Scam’ on Google the post by Lis is on the first page, thanks to lots of friends publishing posts like this one with a backlink to Lis’s post embedded in the text. In just a few days all those links have pushed her post to page one, showing the power of backlinks and at least when people search now there is one genuine review on the first page rather than ALL fake reviews pushing the product.
As well as Lis’s post have a look at this post and video at Site Build It Review Or SBI Review What Ever! and the post by Griz at Site Build it - Don’t Buy It

SEO for Small Businesses – Buyer Beware

Hi Janetra
I was one of the people who had often considered buying SBI! but the $300 had always put me off. I’m glad now I never had the money to pay for it ! Way to go Lis she certainly stirred up a hornets’ nest ! VicW
Thanks for the support comments up to 194 and still counting! They got a lot more useful though and I took a Vic/Grizz lesson in SEO and made a seaprate hub on it - link above
You’re right, the response that the SBI people gave was waaaay out of proportion. Which actually just caused the opposite of what they wanted to happen. Although I do think a few of them thought that throwing their affiliate link in Lissie’s comments would make them a few bucks somehow. Just another example of their twisted logic.
oops my web address above should be http://bloganiche.blogspot.com/. Sorry.
I hate to see these ads because I know someone new to the web or to web development will buy these products. I feel bad for those who buys these products as they are worthless because everything they do can be learned in a matter of weeks. Regards!
I think it is the matter about which one will have to get complete knowledge before he could give his views for it. I hate to see these ads because I know someone new to the web or to web development will buy these products…..
Good job…..
Keep it up….
Thank you so much for the information. I am actually trying to set up my own web page for drug treatment help and I ran across the site you were referring to. I will be sure to explore more options.
It is a system that has been put together to help people build their own website and for that reason there are a lot of people who use it. I agree that the websites that are built with Site Build It are not very good at all.
There should be much better templates and a content management system to make people who want to build their own site that at least it looks somewhat professional.
I Really hate to see these ads because I know someone new to the web or to web development will buy these products.
Great post!! I had been doing some surface level checking on SBI and this is a real eye opener. What I have learned since I started getting my feet wet in affiliate marketing, is that you need to be careful who you follow and understand what their self interests are. The blogs filled with hosting and keyword tool ads rarely present an objective view.

Agree with all these words!
While there is a buyer - there are sellers!
I bet not one of those naysayers calling for Lis’s doom have ever used Site Build It. All those sales pages and squeeze pages trying to get a commission, are any of them being using Site Build It? Give you kudos for picking up Lis’s cause and glad she now ranks well on search.
As a freelance webdesigner I don’t like these programms at all and I think they are bad for the quality of the world wide web.
@nicolas i agree, its really not that hard to build your own site, and there are so many options out there. but i see the need for people who have no idea how to code, it should just show between the person who knows what they are doing and those who don’t.
Goodness. It’s difficult to verify which are actually telling the truth. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
These charlatans are hurting the legitimate ones. Can’t do anything but be alert all the time. Thanks for informing.

Man internet is full of scam kind of stuff. If you want to do business here than you will have to take care of utmost everything. You never know when a wrong thing can hit you and forced you to loose your money.
This is a really dangerous road to those fellows who are new to this stream. As scammer want to target those people who are new to this field and do not have that much knowledge.
You will get scam every where. Tell me one place where scam is not there. You just have to be carefully to avoid such kind of trap.
Internet is most active because people understand that from here they can earn huge money by overnight and hence they have to pay more.

I Really hate to see these ads because I know someone new to the web or to web development will buy these products.
I can also understand using the word “scam” from her point of view when there are many other cheaper alternative elsewhere. But for someone who start in this business, it could be a good way to have everything centralized in one place. That’s is you have the first $300 to invest…
It is really difficult to find out scam on the internet.Peope who are not satisfied with the service can also call it a scam.Dont judge someone by comments only.
Thanks for the information. I am trying to set up my web page. I ran across the site you were referring to. I will be sure to explore more options.
What I find really interesting on the comments about Site Build It! is that when you consider that over 50% of Site Build It! owners go on to buy a second site there must be something good about it.
Yea it is really important to go on research first before trusting any ads that are sometimes scams. Its really hard to determine those legitimate SBI to scams SBI.
I don’t expect that it a scam as I read several good reviews on the software. What I missed on to see the other side of the coin. That is to search on with the keyword “xxxx scam” as you suggested.
