It’s now been 4 months since I received the ‘banned for being associated with a banned account’ email and I have never received any reply to my emails. Steve from eBay says “ However, if you feel your account has been incorrectly terminated, you may contact us and we will work with you to resolve the issue. If you would like to discuss your specific account status, please contact us via our help section”. Despite this no one seems to have received any reply to their emails, not even a form letter.
I had a look at the eBay forum (I’m not going to give them a link here just google eBay partner network forum!) and there’s been another round of bannings from around the 17th of April. I find it extremely suspicious that they ban people, close their accounts and keep their money JUST before payday! Many, many people are saying they are completely innocent of any wrong doing and I believe them as I know I am too.
There has been some speculation on the forum that eBay is getting rid of affiliates who use BANS. I have no idea if this is true but the way eBay is treating affiliates is shameful and the frustrating part is that we can’t do anything about it. Months and months of work by people is just tossed aside and they keep our hard earned money as well.
I have moved on and I advise anyone who received this email not to wait for eBay to reinstate them. It isn’t going to happen! There are other ways to make money with your websites. I have added adsense to my sites. I tried just using affiliate ads via popshops but found the convertion rate was low so I also have adsense on them I know the popular thinking is not to have 2 types of ads on a site but I found that having affiliate ads doesn’t affect the adsense click through rate for adsense and vice versa.
So if you are banned it isn’t the end of your IM carrer. It’s going to take more work but you can move on and use all the other methods of making money online that are available to you. Dude this is not the story of ebay only. Google, Amazon, Commission Junction, Paypal … all use same pattern and this is just their format that which have these lines - However, if you feel your account has been incorrectly terminated, you may contact us and we will work with you to resolve the issue.

E bay should stop suspending innocent people’s account.its really very bad.they are promoting spammers by doing so.
I think cookie stuffing is safe if you do it correctly and with caution.
I had been trying to get my registration approved by eBay partner network for months but all I get are negative replies. (At least, I got replies!) On the third rejection, I stopped fighting a lost cause and moved on but with a heavy heart. I got instantly cheered up when I saw your blog. eBay is not the only way to earn money online after all. It seems that a lot of people are having difficulty getting into EBPN even with good, full of content sites. As you say there are other ways, although perhaps not as easy, but at least you won’t always be wondering if you’re going to be kicked out as you would with eBay!
You are just a new kid to the will of multi billion dollar’s multi nations companies.
In nutshell you will not be able to do anything … but if you do believe that your case got the strength than sue them. Recently a person sue google for not paying amount which was due before he got banned and guess what … he won the case and google had to pay.

I never know that eBay can banned their affiliates, since affiliate are working for them too for selling items. It really shame if the affiliate doing something wrong, but if they not do anything ? eBay should send an appropriate information about banning. Because it really hard to earn money as affiliate from eBay. I don’t know this going to like a scam or not. But eBay surely losing their affiliate if they gonna do this again. Especially with the most good affiliate.

Hi, though it is very bad that eBay has banned your account, but it is nice on the part of you that you have immediately switched to a new ways to accomplish the same task. Life is all about a change. Thanks for sharing your new ways to make money online.
eBay/Paypal have messed up a lot of people’s stuff. Their policy seems to be to ban people if they so much as suspect anyone, and make it impossible to get your account back, even if you can prove your innocent. (Ever since my bank corrected my account to get my name spelled right Paypal won’t take my debit card)
They’re the only online company I’ve had problems with, though. I know Adsense will kick you out and not let you back if you break their rules, though.

That really sucks. I had a problem with ebay in the past. I sold a modded Xbox and got banned forever from ebay. My paypal was also taken down. I have a bunch of ebay accounts though — it’s pretty easy to make a new one.
Regarding BAN’s, I *just* got accepted into EPN(Ebay Partner Networks) last week. I was rejected 4 times. I keep asking to get re-evaluated and kept giving them a list of reasons why. I even told them I would make a lot of quality BAN’s-like sites, lol. They finally did accept me and I’ve created 3 new ebay sites. I’m actually using phpPro instead of BAN’s cause the word on the street is that it’s easier to hide from google and the site looks like a real website — not a thin affiliate site.
Let’s hope ebay doesn’t just cut me off though

Glad you got accepted at last! I agree about using phpPro or you could try wordbay, I found that excellent and free! I had one bans site left as it wasn’t something that could convert to affiliate sales. That one has been deindexed but another wordbay site - same products - different targeted keywords, same amount of content is still OK. I definitely think BANS has had its day. There are also rumours that eBay is getting rid of affiliates who use BANS.
Anyway good luck with eBay - it converts really well so I’m sure you’ll do well.

They have to investigate carefully before they ban any account, this is not far, I think they have at least to response your e mails.
Yea. My aim is to get 50-100 bans sites in my MMO portfolio (I have 3 now, hah). But yea, I’m a firm believer in having a diverse portfolia, so a portion of ebay/phppro sites, a portion adsense, a portion clickbank/amazon, etc.
But, ebay is having some problems. The local ebay branch (physical office) in my city (vancouver) was just disbanded the other day — 700 people out of work. Doesn’t bode well for us affiliate marketers. The thing I don’t get is, why ban the people who are making them money? Internet marketers know how to control the traffic, the right type of traffic. Ban them and lose the money.

Yeah eBay Partner Network has some of the most generous affiliate commissions on the web and how much you earn depends on how much quality traffic you drive every month

People are either mad at being removed from program when they felt they did nothing wrong, they worry it’s only a matter of time before it’s their turn.

I myself was expired from eBay. I ran EPN on a couple automotive forums as well as a handful of automotive themed niche stores, all of which received only search engine and returning visitor traffic, and I was deemed to be sending traffic significantly less engaged with the eBay site as compared to the standards set by other affiliates.eBay has not completely implemented a system that filters out all bot hits, thus diluting all ePN affiliates Earnings Per Click (EPC) which is probably a highly contributing factor to being expired.

Ebay must get alot of these emails about wrongly banned accounts. Maybe yours is just in the queue and someone could be getting back to you about it in maybe a long while. Nevertheless, I think you should warn more people about this as it is really unfair

This is not my first time to read such problem. I have encountered many affiliates who had the same problem with you. eBay had screwed up their credibility, really shameful and frustrating. Sorry to hear about your banned account, i think ebay must take care of convenience provided to their registered users & my suggestion to all ebay user is that they should warn more people about this as it is really unfair
My ePN account was cancelled today without warning or explanation. All my quality scores were high, my epc were great, and I’ve consistently earned 4-figure commissions every month for over a year. Never a complaint or warning. If I did something wrong, I have no idea what it is. All I know is they are keeping my money for the past two months… AND they are keeping my links. Apparently, they have no problem earning money from my traffic, they just prefer not to pay me for it. They should change the name from “EBAY Partner” program to “EBAY Screws You” program. I will be consulting an attorney…

Ebay is very popular website because it provides help to increase your income online. I do not think affiliate of Ebay deserve to be banned especially if they are doing their best and do not violate any rules.
sorry to hear about that - however push your energy into making money elsewhere, forget about fighting paypal or ebay, its a lost cause and a waste of your time. As you said, just google it - you’ll see that you are not alone in getting treated unfairly.
I am absolutely agree with you Gold Coins that Ebay is very popular website providing excellent opportunities for people willing increase their online benefits. I think that the best way to avoid being banned is not to break Ebay’s rools.
