More on Blue Host Deactivated my Websites

I have BANS and WordPress sites on Bluehost. In the past I have had an occasional suspension due to CPU over load. I found that using a WordPress database plugin can cause this so I deactivated this plugin on all my WP sites. Since then I hadn’t had the suspension happen until last Sunday. Every few minutes I was getting my websites suspended for CPU overload. I haven’t activated any new plugins or done anything different.

On Monday my account was deactivated. No warning, no offer to help me find the problem, Just an email that my data will be deleted in 15 days and my data may be available until then.

I sent 4 emails over the day and put in a ticket and absolutely no response. I didn’t realise they had live chat until someone told me, so on Tuesday I contacted them this way and they agreed to allow me access to my cpanel and ftp so I could retrieve my data. 48 hours after my first email I had a reply to the effect that I could no longer use emails or tickets to contact them. They email mail you to tell you they’ve deactivated you but you can’t use email to reply to them and get any information, the only way is through live chat which they don’t tell you in the email!!

Is this any way to do business?

Next I had an email form the abuse department that I was using too many resources. Here’s an extract

“Bluehost’s service is designed to meet the typical needs of small business and home business website Subscribers in the United States. It is NOT intended to support the sustained demand of large enterprises, internationally based businesses, or non-typical applications better suited to a dedicated server.”

So am I a large enterprise with 20 niche websites and a blog? or is it the “internationally based businesses” part that’s the problem?
They allow you to have 100 databases and unlimited space etc. Doesn’t 100 databases imply 100 websites? Obviously they really don’t mean ‘unlimited’ at all. What i am angry about is the way they went about this. If they only want you to have say 15 websites say so! Or let me know that I am exceeding their magic no (whatever it is). I would have stopped adding sites and hosted on another server. No warning just pull the plug is appalling business practice.

I have now moved all my websites to a new account on Hostgator and they are working fine. So far I haven’t seen a drop in SERP’s.

Blue Host Deactivated all my Websites!

My apologies for being down since Monday. Blue Host suddenly, with no warning, deactivate my websites for ‘using too many resources’

I am busy transferring my sites to Hostgator. Not everything will work on this site (test sites etc are not set up yet)

More later.

BANS Progress Report 3

I’ve been an affiliate of eBay for about 10 months now. as you will know if you have read my previous reports I started by using BANS but I have now moved to using WordPress with WordBay plugin. I find this to be much easier to use and better for adding content than BANS. All the plugins available for WordPress make it much more flexible. However for someone who is not experience in using WordPress it is probably easier to start with BANS as it is easy to setup.

To date I have made almost $4000. This is net, I have not added up the expenses but these include domain purchase (about $300) hosting (about $150) paid for directory submissions (about $300) and some advertising on USFreeads (about $50). I have not any used any ppc. Roughly about $1000 in expenses.

My earnings have increased every month from $200 in January to $750 this month. I continue to work on the sites, adding content and backlinks, adding to Kaboodle (free), USfreeads and social bookmarking.

One of the things I have found effective is buying aged domains. You can find then at tdnam. Closeouts are just $5. Look for domains that have been registered for over a year (preferably longer) and check that they show up in Google by doing a site:domain.com search. you don’t want to buy deindexed domains! You can also check with Wayback machine that they haven’t been used for shady purposes.

It has been a lot of work! Don’t believe all those ‘make $10000’s in no time’ ads. There is no way to instantly, with no work, make a lot of money in internet marketing. The only people who make money that way are the ones selling the ‘instant make money programs/guides’

One thing I would add. Google seems to be targeting ‘thin affiliate sites’. That is sites with affiliate ads and very little content. So add lots of unique content and try to make as many content pages as ads pages.

Experiment in keyword Sniping - Report 2

Before I give you the results of my keyword experiment so far I want to talk about Court’s latest post - As it turns out content is king

Court has removed all his keyword sniping post and shut down his new keyword sniping site and his paid keyword sniping course. This very drastic measure is a result of his site being dropped from no 1 in SERPS to page 7. He has said that people have mistaken his keyword sniping posts to mean that content doesn’t matter and that he is misleading people with the posts. That people who are reading his posts then making thin sites will be penalised by Google. I, and I am sure many other people, have not interpreted it this way. In fact after reading the posts I realised that i wasn’t putting enough content on my sites and began to add more. So for me the posts had the opposite effect. I fully intend to continue using the keyword sniping technique.

So what are my results so far?

I began the experiment in the beginning of July and after 1 week my results were as follows

Keyword A

  • Position after 2 days 219
  • Position after 1 week 125

Keyword B

  • Position after 2 days 112
  • Position after 1 week 106

Here are my SERPS today (Sep 12th)

Keyword A

  • Position after 2 months 34

Keyword B

  • Position after 2 months 51

Unique visitors to date 1,356

So keyword A has gone from position 219 to 34 and keyword B from 112 to 51. I haven’t published any more articles than the original 2 that I submitted to Ezine Articles and then to iSnare and Free Article Submission Service. I have added 3 of my original articles to Qassia for the backlinks. I really need to write some more articles for distribution!

Getting Backlinks with Market Samurai

Market Samurai was updated again today and I really want to share a new feature with you. It’s called Promotion and it’s a very easy way to find do follow blogs/edu.gov/squiddo lenses/forums that you can comment on. Plus, and this is what I really like, it tells you which blogs have automatic ping back enabled. Enter your keyword and let MS find backlinks. Then click on a link to look at the blog post. If you like what you see copy the ping back code and insert into a post on your blog.

That’s all! If the blog has comments automatically enabled you’ll get a backlink immediately otherwise you’ll have to wait and see if the blog owner allows the ping back on moderation. Watch the video below to see how it works! Continue reading ‘Getting Backlinks with Market Samurai’
