WordPress Plugin of the Week- Blogging Zoom Vote Button

zoomlogo.png

This week I’m using ‘WordPress Plugin of the Week’ to introduce BloggingZoom and the Blogging Zoom Vote Button.

BloggingZoom is a new Digg clone especially for us bloggers started by Courtney and Vic. It seems to have got off to a very healthy start and is attracting lots of attention in the blogosphere! You don’t get punished for submitting your own posts and these guys are using their knowledge of search engine ranking to push visitors to your site. I only joined a couple of days ago, submitted one post and already I’ve had more visitors from BloggingZoom than I got from BlogRush in weeks (admittedly that isn’t saying much! but I’ve seen a good increase in my traffic and in RSS subscriptions) I’ve also found some interesting new sites.

Download the Blogging Zoom Vote Button to get the Digg like button featured to the right.

For Blogger users Zybron has written a good tutorial on integrating the Blogging Vote Button on Blogger sites.

Join in, remember to zoom our fellow blogger’s posts and have fun!

WordPress Plugin of the Week - In-Series

In-series is a nice plugin to link posts together. You can see it in action on my ‘Firefox Addons Weekly Roundup‘ Series.

In Series provides a way for you to manage stringing together posts in a series. You can add and remove individual posts from series, and reorder posts within a series, all from the post writing screen. The plugin also allows you to customize how series information (like tables of contents and next/previous links) are rendered across your site. blockquote1.gif

It creates a table for the posts in the series and places it by default at the beginning of the post. To place the table at the end of the post follow these instructions from the authors FAQ’s.

The quick solution is to go to the Options tab and the Series sub-tab in the WordPress admin interface, clear the “Post layout” field, and then paste “%content <div class=’series_links’>%prev %next</div><div class=’series_toc’>%toc</div>” (without the outside quotes) into the “Post layout” field. Click “Update Options »” to save your settings, and you’re done.blockquote1.gif
